05 // Longscarf attempts escape while escorted to Swiftwind

The group interrogates Longscarf and searches his belongings in the underground sewer hideout, where cultists had been stashing magical items to sell illegally in Fey Ember’s trade market. Although Longscarf refused to cooperate, a ledger among his possessions revealed a long history of trading and dealing with the Zhentarim and the cultist group.
Longscarf’s Chance
Chappy cast a control spell on Longscarf to ensure he’s compliant while being escorted to Councilmember Chester Swiftwind at Adventure Hall. However, one party member strikes Longscarf, breaking the spell. Longscarf senses an opportunity to escape by pretending to be under the influence of a spell. His act succeeds in convincing the party.
An Escape Attempt
As the group encounters a pair of Inner Guards while walking to Adventure Hall huddled around Longscarf. Seizing the moment, Longscarf yells for help and demands the guards seize the group. Chappy is swiftly responds with a control spell and Scraat quickly reacts in kind to mimic an additional chant to reinforce the spell. Longscarf’s mood and attention instantly change, and he starts to non-chalantnly walk past guards now confused. Templeton notices the confusion and takes the opportunity to interact with the guards. He mentions seeing one of the guard being lewd at a bar. Flustered, the guard recoils into ball f shame unsure if he drunkenly did something inappropriate. The other guard guard laughs at the other, resulting in both giving way for the party to continue.
Longscarf Delivered
The group successfully delivered Longscarf to Councilmember Swiftwind, who was visibly stunned by the revelation. Recognizing the political ramifications, Swiftwind assured the party he would take credit for apprehending Longscarf to redirect any ensuing political pressure onto himself.
